Reasoning Behind My Lazy Absence...

Sorry for the lack of post, since my internship began at Mayo I have seriously have had no time for anything else besides that. I have honestly been going to Mayo, come home study MCAT and haven't had time for much else besides that. One upside to working at Mayo is the dress code - unless you're in scrubs you are required to wear business casual outfits. What that means is that I can wear dresses and just dress up everyday. Orginally that was a lot of fun getting to wear all these businessy dresses that I've stashed away due to the blazing Arizona heat and lack of occasion. I will definitely be doing more Outfits of the Day post for sure since these dresses are so much fun to wear (...at least when I'm in the mood for it).

My mentor is super nice and the work that she does is super amazing. For someone having to deal with me... she has a tremendous amount of patience which I have to give her props for. The reason I applied to the Mayo SURF Program was to see whether an M.D./Ph.D could possibly be in my future and honestly this program has turned out to be way more than that. I have gotten the opportunity to meet amazing like-minded individuals as well as fostering my love for science. Oh gosh, I'm starting to sound like a walking billboard for the program but that is truly how I feel. Prior to coming into the program and doing cancer immunology research, I have never truly been in a lab before. Right now you're probably wondering how I got into the Mayo SURF Program without any experience, but I have done over a year of Psychology research and has assisted with another clinical research project that Mayo had with Arizona State University. However, pipetting and counting cells and running PCRs and dealing with mice - I have never done any of those things. This program has helped me to understand what it means to possibly be a researcher in the future and I'm loving every minute so far.

I will definitely make an effort to post more and keep the promises I made to myself :)! For now here's a picture of the beautiful Mayo Clinic campus I get to be at 5 days a week for the next couple of weeks.

Busy Busy Sunday!

So I've just been feeling really unproductive regarding the MCAT this whole week and it has definitely put me in a funk. Fortunately for me, close friend of mine just took his MCAT yesterday and talking to him about it definitely gave me a kick in the butt and really motivated me to truly begin working hard for the MCAT. Even though it is a Sunday, I've decided to dedicate it to MCAT studying fully. Since I woke up at 10AM this morning until now I have worked on Physic passages. This has definitely made me feel better about where I stand as I'm preparing to take my MCAT in August.

Now, I definitely don't feel as guilty as I get on the elliptical and drool over Hughes Laurie's rugged handsomeness in House :) Here is a picture of my planner, I try to document all the MCAT studying I do as to keep track and further motivate myself. Have a good Sunday everyone :)

My Outfit Of The Day

Top: Romeo and Juliet Couture
Shorts: Abercrombie and Fitch
Boots: Antonio Melani
Bracelets: Forever 21

This was my outfit to the Tim McGraw concert featuring Kip Moore and Cassadee Pope :) As you can all tell, this was a snapchat... but sometimes snapchats capture the moment too well to only last for those quick 5 seconds. I really like country but I'm not the biggest country fan so I didn't know a lot of the songs during the concert, but I have got to say that was a really good concert nonetheless. The concert ended with "Live Like You Were Dying" which was the perfect way to end the concert. An older man was sitting on the lawn in front of us, during the whole concert he would half-heartedly sway to the songs but by the end of "Live Like You Were Dying" he was wiping away tears from his eyes with his shirt-sleeve. I was honestly really moved at how he connected with the song and how much the song had moved him. I definitely will be going to more country concerts from now on :)

My Obsession Of The Moment

My Michael Kors Large Selma Bag <3

It is hard for me to spend a lot of money on one item. I have always been the type of girl that believes "more truly is more", meaning with the money I spent on this bag, I could have gotten knock-offs in all colors of the rainbow elsewhere. However, after weeks of endlessly drooling over the bag I braved a visit to the store and could not turn away. I had originally planned on getting the bag in a brighter blue, like the one pictured below. But the store I was at only had the blue above and I fell in love with it instantaneously.

The color blue I've picked does not necessarily go with everything I still love to carry it with everything because it is an amazing pop of color no matter what outfit I have on. The shoulder strap is convenient when I needs more hands for activities and the handles are the perfect length to comfortably carry the bag. Overall, this bag is so convenient and due to the material of the bag, I do not feel guilty carrying around with me wherever I go. And isn't that what having the perfect handbag is all about?
The original apple of my eye.

The Summer That Started It All...

Like a lot of other medical students, this summer I am preparing for the MCAT. Well, unlike a lot of other medical students this summer along side the MCAT I am also doing a research fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, planning my school's massive welcome back festival, and attempting to stay sane through the help of my friends and boyfriend. Hopefully, if all goes well by the end of the summer every of these three items are checked off from my to-do list. But knowing me and my tendencies when it comes to summer (Netflix for dayz) it will be challenging staying on course. This blog is to document my journey this summer, through both bad and good. Through MCAT books and through shopping trips - anything and everything. It has definitely been a goal of mine to be more creatively expressive and I figured a blog would be the perfect opportunity.
Here's a look into my studying area, I'm lucky enough to have a mother who has allowed me to turn our dining room into my own little office for the next three months :) Here's to a summer full of productive study sessions and fun!
